Trump Proposes US Iron Dome, California Secession Bid Proceeds, and Asteroid Carries Seeds of Life

On January 27, 2025, President Donald Trump signed an executive order to establish a U.S. Iron Dome defense system aimed at creating a multi-layered defense against missile threats. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth is tasked with delivering an implementation plan within 60 days. The OSIRIS-REx mission, launched in 2016, successfully collected over 121 grams of asteroid material from Bennu in October 2020, with the sample return capsule landing on Earth on September 24, 2023.
